Challenge to Bobby Jindal

I want to congratulate Bobby Jindal on winning this election. I wish him luck in being able to do what is right for the people of our district. Now that the election is over, I have some new challenges for the newly elected Congressman from LA01.

Challenge One: Make coastal restoration your top priority :

When we where at the forum on Tulane’s campus, I discussed the importance of Coastal Restoration. You followed me by stating “Coastal restoration is important, but…”. No single issue threatens Southeastern Louisiana more than the threat of a direct hit of a hurricane. We need to restore the coastline, protect Louisiana industries, and build up the levee system to handle a category five hurricane. Strive to get the funding that we need to protect the lives and livelihood of the people you represent.

Challenge Two: Be a representative for all of District One :

There are many people in our district with many different backgrounds, beliefs and feelings. Be an advocate for all of them.

Challenge Three: Support real world solutions to current problems :

There are a lot of people that want to push policies that are based on certain “ideals”. I have no problem with reaching for the ideal but I firmly believe that we have to do so with our feet firmly planted in reality.

Challenge Four: Don’t toe the party line :

You are a Republican. I don’t expect you to be anything else. But first and foremost you are a representative of our district. I urge you to put District One and Louisiana before the Republican Party.
